Hi, I’m Kirsty — a Registered Play Therapist, Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner, and the Owner and Director of Sunflower Lane Therapy in Cairns, Queensland.
Alongside my professional role, I’m also a mum of three. Parenting has taught me patience, humour, and compassion, and it helps me connect with families in a genuine, practical way.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling), I’m a PACFA Clinical Registrant, and I am a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist. I have worked across community, disability, and family support sectors, with a strong focus on trauma-informed care, child development, and behaviour support.
I see myself as a sensitive soul, a passionate realist, and a practitioner who values relatability and authenticity. I often share personal reflections when it helps families feel less alone.
I believe therapy works best when it feels human — full of compassion, honesty, and hope.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and relationship-based, blending Child-Centred Play Therapy, Synergetic Play Therapy, and Positive Behaviour Support.
Guided by my philosophy — Connect · Nourish · Sustain — I help children and families build trust, experience change, and create lasting foundations for the future.
Outside of work, I’m both an adventurous traveller and a homebody at heart. I love exploring new places, but I also treasure quiet moments with my children, a coffee in hand, and the comfort of home.
